In October 2009, HTNet Solutions Sdn Bhd (HSSB) was engaged by BT Frontline Technologies (BTFT) as technology implementation consultant to deploy a clustered MySQL database infrastructure for Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).
MySQL Cluster is the industry’s only true real-time database that combines the flexibility of a high availability relational database with the low TCO of open source. It features a “shared-nothing” distributed architecture with no single point of failure to assure 99.999% availability, allowing you to meet your most demanding mission-critical application requirements.
This level of fault tolerance is known in the industry as five nines availability. In business terms, it describes an infrastructure that should have less than 5 minutes downtime a year including maintenance downtime. Needless to say, such level of high availability requires meticulous planning and a high degree of expertise. The MySQL Cluster infrastructure will be powering UPSI’s LMS platform.
HSSB rose to the challenge and completed the MySQL Cluster setup within the deadline of five days. This is the kind of service quality that we’ve been delivering since our inception in 2008.
During the progress of the project, BTFT and UPSI received regular updates from HSSB where potential issues were identified and subsequently rectified. At the conclusion of the project implementation, HSSB were given top marks for efficiency, thoughtfulness and dedication towards achieving project goals.
